On the road, bright and early.
We made it to Utah! and we'll drive across the whole state today. Whew!
a rather serious Nova passed us
This car wound up on the cover of the Power Tour issue of the magazine
A typical gas stop. It was unreal!
Ross eating lunch by the Hot Rod mag lead van
Boyd Air. This was a high profile big buck car that year.
We saw this scene over and over for a couple thousand miles. There were people at almost every overpass that was anywhere near civilization, and lots of them in the middle of nowhere, like here.
The 41 chevy was also sporting a blown big block, but had one of the carbs disconnected.
One of our first Nick Scavo sightings. Nick normally ran mid 8s in his yacht, but put in a mild 540 or something for this trip. They hauled the car down from Illinios, and drove it as much as possible on the tour--he fought several gremlins, but always got back on the road.
This is a neat truck, set up for road race duty! it lost a tranny somewhere in Colorado, but they got it going again.
A really wild Posie car.
You can see the difference that Boyd made to the 57....wider, lower, swoopier.
We encountered some nice weather.
the guys cleaning the Boyd car after the nice weather. Can't let it get water spots.
Miles of beautiful scenery.
I think there was no legroom in the back seat, so we saw folks riding high back there quite a bit.
nice hills.
The air cleaner shot.
Next stop Denver, Colorado.
