Actually, it only lasted
7 days. We are now on the way home to Arizona. At the
hotel, we met up again with Bill Dyer and J R Clark, who were driving
that Vette we saw in Springfield, and again during the lockpicking
incident in Davenport. Bill said the tow truck driver left as
soon as he got his slim jim out of the Vette's door, and didn't charge
him for not unlocking the car. So that turned out ok. We
compared his key to my truck key, they are almost identical! Hope
Bill and J R have a safe trip back to Reno, and Ray and Mary Kay
with the Cobra make it safely back east in the rain.
We saw the Roadkill Racing 666 Camaro at the hotel. Must have
been a treat for the folks staying there who were attending the
Jehovah's Witness convention!
We did see a few rods on the road leaving Green Bay. The weather started out cloudy, but turned into a beautiful day.
Before we left the hotel, Bill mentioned that they were going to stop
at the musuem in Oshkosh. I thought about this as we were
driving, and sure enough, Steve found the EAA museum on the map!
so we went to see the airplanes, and we saw Bill pulling in just ahead
of us. Later this 39 Chevy delivery pulled up, along with a 65
Plymouth, late 70s Nova, a couple more Vettes, and one other car I
forget which it was.
The Experimental Aircraft Association museum has a nice World War II aircraft display.
This is a big engine!
and it's specs
We even saw some Nixie tube test equipment! although it was not
period correct for an early 1940s display, as Nixie tubes were a 50s
thing.
A 42 Ford sedan. The girl was rather standoffish.
After leaving the museum, we headed towards Madison to visit my dad for
a few days. His house is set back on the left, and Lucy's son
John's house is on the right, which is where we're staying.
