This is the WEDGE. Built by a GM guy in the late 70s, he retired and moved to Tucson in the early 90s. I saw the car at the Tubac show several times. He sold it in 2019, I bought it from the second owner in 2020.
The car was built on the front and rear subframes of a 1963 LeMans, which is a front engine, rear transaxle car. The 215 Buick V8 is mounted between the seats, and connected with an industrial coupling to the Tempestorque transaxle. The body is aluimnum sheet, over a welded angle iron framework. The car also has a rectangular tube frame connecting the front and rear unibody pieces. Construction quality is meh....but it mostly works.
